Why are global warming deniers ultra-conservative?

Two people I know are global warming deniers. I note with considerable interest that these two gentlemen are also the most ultraconservative people I know. They are also both fundamentalist Christians. Do you think there is a connection? Do you think there is something about being ultraconservative that motivates people to deny anthropogenic climate change?
