Bought faulty fire thats a risk to life?

i recently bought a halogen mini heater its only 4 months or so old and has been used only 3 or 4 times, tonight i turned it on and one of the tubes started to give off a noxious smell, and i found the tube had cracked and fumes were fiklling the room like a burning smell, i need to alert someone soon to this danger, i could have died or suffocated , who do i contact to alrt this danger? fire brigade ,or trading standards , or the police? i would hate to think there is someone out there who may be in danger from these heaters any replies e mail me soon cos i am reporting this to someone tomorrow please help
